Heart Nebula

What is a Nebula?
A Nebula is a cloud of dust, hydrogen, helium and other gases that live in the regions in between star or solar systems (called the interstellar medium).

What and where is the Heart Nebula?
The Heart Nebula was first discovered way back in 1787 and is thought to be around 7,500 light years away from the Earth. It is located in a constellation named Cassiopeia.

Why does it glow red?
The Heart Nebula glows an intense red colour from the radiation of a few bright stars located in its very centre. Each one of these stars is thought to be around 50 times bigger than our own Sun.
